PoleStar iMRI Navigation Suite
PoleStar is a compact system that does not require a specially
constructed surgery suite. PoleStar can be installed in an OR
located on any floor of the building.

A local, moveable RF shield (StarShield) can be used to protect
the PoleStar scanner from the external RF noise.

The StarShield is confined to the area around the OR table,
is folded at the patient's feet side throughout the surgery, and extended
for scanning.

StarShield is an efficient and cost-effective solution to the
system RF shielding needs. Alternatively the entire OR can be
shielded.

The OR can also be used for surgery with the PoleStar navigation
alone, based on diagnostic images, and for surgeries without PoleStar.
In these cases the PoleStar scanner is stored in a Magnet Storage
Cabinet, which shields the PoleStar's magnetic field eliminating
it from the OR.

The PoleStar's magnetic field is confined to the volume between
the magnet poles and it's immediate neighborhood. Surgical tools
and systems outside the magnetic field will not be affected by
the PoleStar's presence.
Life support equipment as well as instruments that remain in the
surgical field during scans should be MRI-compatible.
All other instruments should be of a non-ferromagnetic material.
A Site Preparation Guide is provided to aid you and your organization
in preparing for the installation of the PoleStar MRI system.
A company-certified Site Preparation Specialist will be involved
in all stages of your OR preparation, including consulting with
the personnel at your facility during the design stage and monitoring
the entire construction process.

the local Medtronic Navigation representative or call 800-595-9709.
